Collaborative practice 3 person 4 day project with Flora Fricker

Our chosen man & character: Hunter S Thompson from the film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Our chosen scene to recreate was his hotel room.

Prop choices:

First prop: Press Pass
Raoul always has it on him. It needs to stay in pristine condition because it’s his golden ticket to getting around and Raoul would empty his pockets when he got to the hotel room.

Second prop: Magazine

Adrenochrome bottle with label
Adrenochrome is and extremely potent hallucinogenic that according to the movie is extracted from the adrenal gland of a living human being. It is a central object of the plot, as it officially signifies when the character has “too much”, and indulges in something he cannot handle. The character has a nightmarish trip after taking too much of the drug, where he hallucinates the devil himself.
The label is dark and incorporates an almost satanic aesthetic. This is because in the movie, the character gets the bottle through a satanist that owed him money. It also references Alice in Wonderland with the label having “Drink Me” written over it. This is also done in the movie.

Thompson in real life was an avid consumer of cigarettes, particularly the luxury brand “Dunhill”. In the film, of course, smoking is a standard occurrence, the character is very rarely seen without a cigarette in his mouth, so it made sense to include a dunhill cigarette box on our list of props
