BBC CREATIVE - FALMOUTH UNIVERSITY 2021
3 person 5 day collaborative practice
Our response to the brief above - Electronic screens placed in cities across the world, live-streaming cities 24/7. Connecting your city, to the other’s in foreign cities. Essentially watching whoever is walking by, or in front of it in real time, as if you are face to face with them.
Changes your perception on the everyday lives of the people from all over the world, capturing another perspective that social media or the News can’t show you. Raw, real, unfiltered.
The rationale below explains how it is relevant to the theme of being 'impartial'

The rationale which would be a poster next to the screen to explain the point of it

Visualisations of what it would look like to the public

Here we decided to create some concept billboard advertisement that ties into our main idea. We chose to use the slogan ‘it all starts with hello’. It's short, easy to remember and connects to the idea of conversations- that all friendships first start with ‘Hello’. The slogan also makes it easier to interchange the word hello with other languages.

Some digital door models. With these dotted around thriving cities and train stations, passers by can see into a portal of another culture. These digital doors would be 6ft, fitting the average human when up close fully on screen.

In this idea, an add on feature to these digital doors, the ability to broadcast your message to the screen for people on the other side to read. This can be done by scanning the QR code on the model. We left the QR code unlabelled to induce curiosity and so not everyone is utilising it.
